Overview#
Creating a portfolio with Altrixy is a guided five-step process. The AI handles the heavy lifting — you provide the context and make the final editorial decisions.
A typical portfolio takes 3-5 minutes from start to published.
Step 1: Choose a Template#
Click New Portfolio from the dashboard or sidebar. You will see the Template Picker with the following options:
- Case Study — Deep dive into a single product initiative with problem, approach, and results
- Product Launch — Narrative of bringing a product to market, from ideation to launch metrics
- Impact Summary — One-page summary of your key achievements and metrics
- Full Portfolio — Comprehensive multi-section career portfolio
- Resume Enhancement — AI-enhanced version of your existing resume content
- LinkedIn Summary — Optimized LinkedIn About section and headline
Each template has a preview card showing the structure and example output. Click Preview to see a full sample before selecting.
If you are applying for a specific role, use the Case Study template focused on a relevant project. Hiring managers love concrete examples.
Step 2: Fill in Your Experience#
After selecting a template, you will be prompted to provide context. Depending on the template, this may include:
- Role and company — Your title and organization
- Time period — When the work happened
- Situation — The problem or opportunity you faced
- Actions — What you specifically did (decisions, processes, collaborations)
- Results — Quantified outcomes (metrics, revenue impact, user growth)
- Skills used — Technologies, frameworks, and methodologies
You can also:
- Paste a resume — The AI extracts relevant information automatically
- Import from LinkedIn — Pull your experience data directly (requires LinkedIn connection)
- Upload documents — Attach PRDs, presentations, or reports for AI context
The more specific and quantified your input, the better the AI output. "Increased retention by 15%" is much better than "improved retention".
Step 3: AI Generates Content#
Click Generate and the AI begins assembling your portfolio. A progress indicator shows each stage:
- Analyzing context — The AI processes your input and identifies key themes
- Structuring narrative — Sections are organized for maximum impact
- Writing content — Each section is drafted with professional PM language
- Polishing — Grammar, tone, and formatting are refined
- Scoring — A content quality score is calculated
Generation typically takes 15-30 seconds depending on the template complexity.
Step 4: Review and Edit#
Once generation completes, you enter the Editor view. Here you can:
- Read through each section and make inline edits
- Click Regenerate on any section to get a new version
- Adjust tone (Professional, Conversational, Technical, Executive)
- Add or remove sections using the section toolbar
- See a Content Quality Score (0-100) that updates in real-time as you edit
The editor auto-saves every 30 seconds. You can also press Cmd+S to save manually.
Focus on the Results section — this is what hiring managers and peers read first. Make sure every metric is accurate and impactful.
Step 5: Export or Publish#
When you are satisfied with your portfolio, you have several options:
- Publish — Creates a hosted page at
altrixy.com/p/your-slugwith a custom OG image for social sharing - Export as PDF — Download a beautifully formatted PDF using your chosen export template
- Export as Markdown — Get the raw Markdown for use in your own website or GitHub
- Export as HTML — Standalone HTML file you can host anywhere
- Export as JSON — Structured data for programmatic use
Published portfolios can be shared via link, embedded in your website, or added to your LinkedIn profile.
Tips for Great Portfolios#
Follow these best practices to make your portfolio stand out:
- Lead with impact — Put your most impressive metric or outcome in the first paragraph
- Be specific — Replace vague statements with concrete numbers and examples
- Show your process — Hiring managers want to see how you think, not just what you achieved
- Use the STAR framework — Situation, Task, Action, Result is the gold standard for PM narratives
- Keep it concise — A case study should be 500-800 words. A full portfolio should be 2-4 pages
- Include visuals — Add screenshots, diagrams, or charts to break up text (upload in the editor)
- Proofread — The AI is good but not perfect. Always do a final human review
