What is the STAR Engine?#
The STAR Engine is Altrixy's intelligent LinkedIn engagement automation tool. It monitors posts from target accounts and suggests contextual, value-adding replies that position you as a thought leader.
STAR stands for Situation-Task-Action-Result — the framework the engine uses to craft replies that tell mini-stories rather than generic comments.
The STAR Engine is an assistive tool. Every suggested reply goes through your review and approval before being posted. Altrixy never posts without your explicit consent.
Setting Up Target Accounts#
Target accounts are LinkedIn profiles whose posts you want to engage with. Set them up in LinkedIn > STAR Engine > Target Accounts:
- Click Add Target Account
- Search by name, headline, or LinkedIn URL
- Select the account from search results
- Set the engagement priority: High, Medium, or Low
- Click Save
You can add up to 50 target accounts on the free plan and 200 on paid plans. Organize them into groups (e.g., "Industry Leaders", "Hiring Managers", "Peers") for easier management.
Target the people you want to build relationships with — hiring managers at your dream companies, industry thought leaders, and active PM community members.
Tone Selection#
Control the voice of your STAR Engine replies:
- Professional — Formal, data-driven, and concise. Best for engaging with executives and enterprise posts.
- Conversational — Friendly, approachable, and relatable. Best for peer-to-peer engagement.
- Thought Leader — Insightful, opinion-driven, and provocative. Best for adding unique perspectives.
- Supportive — Encouraging, empathetic, and community-focused. Best for congratulatory or supportive engagement.
You can set a default tone and override it per reply before posting. The AI adapts the tone while maintaining your authentic voice patterns learned from your profile data.
Review and Approve Queue#
All STAR Engine suggestions appear in the Review Queue at LinkedIn > STAR Engine > Queue:
Each suggestion shows:
- The original post (author, content, engagement stats)
- The suggested reply with the detected tone
- An estimated engagement score (how likely the reply is to get reactions)
- Approve, Edit, or Reject buttons
Click Approve to post the reply immediately, or Edit to modify it before posting. Rejected suggestions are archived and used to improve future suggestions.
The queue is sorted by priority: high-priority target accounts appear first, followed by time-sensitivity (newer posts first).
Campaign Management#
Group your engagement activity into Campaigns for organized tracking:
- Go to LinkedIn > STAR Engine > Campaigns
- Click New Campaign
- Name the campaign (e.g., "Q1 Hiring Manager Outreach")
- Assign target accounts and rules to the campaign
- Set a start and end date
Campaigns provide aggregate analytics: total replies sent, engagement received, profile views generated, and connection requests received. Use these metrics to measure the ROI of your engagement strategy.
Safety Watchdog#
The Safety Watchdog protects your professional reputation by automatically filtering suggestions that could be harmful:
Automatic blocks:
- Controversial or politically charged responses
- Overly promotional or salesy language
- Responses that could be perceived as spam
- Content that contradicts your stated professional views
Rate limiting:
- Maximum 10 replies per hour
- Maximum 50 replies per day
- Minimum 5-minute gap between replies to the same author
- Automatic cool-down after 3 consecutive rejections (suggests recalibrating rules)
The Safety Watchdog runs on every suggestion before it enters your review queue. You can adjust sensitivity in Settings > LinkedIn > Safety.
